Ken Robinson and Montessori

For those who haven't seen it, here is the adaptation of Robinson's presentation on the challenges in contemporary education -- the philosophical roots from which the "industrial" model of education has emerged, the pressure to maintain that model despite the radical shifts in society, and the possibility of true reform in education. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U]Robinson has often cited Montessori education as one of the sources of positive, responsive teaching: encouraging collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.Robinson addressed the 2009 AMI Conference and, while a video is available, the quality is quite poor. If a better version is made available, or if Robinson's address from the 2011 AMS Conference is released, I'll repost here on the blog.[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngi7P8b7MsE?rel=0]
