Elementary Welcome!
Dear Elementary Families,Happy Summer! I hope everyone is off having a great time. I just got back from Nantucket where my side of the family spends their summer. Next week I am driving down to North Carolina to spend some time with my husband’s side of the family. However, this week has been all about getting the classroom ready for the Fall. I am so excited to be back in the classroom as a lead teacher. This post is just a way to touch base and provide necessary information to help make the transition back to school a little easier. I’m sure it won’t answer all of your questions, but hopefully I will see you all at the open house. I will also be holding an Elementary Orientation September 7th at 8:30 a.m. Please attend; it will be part Montessori Parent Education and part Question/Answer. I’ll bake goodies and bring coffee!I would like you to start our first author study of the year with your student at home this month. We will be selecting authors or themes throughout the year. Our first author study will be Roald Dahl. Choose one book by Roald Dahl to read with your child over the summer. Don’t panic! There are some short ones, and if you are still in a pinch you can always pop in an audio book! We will be making dioramas of our favorite scene in the children’s chosen books. They will be on display at our first Parent Coffee (October 10th).Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I am looking forward to all the fun we will be having together this school year. All the best,Ali HaefnerElementary Supply ListIndoor Shoes- please make sure if choosing slip-on shoes that they will indeed stay on your child’s feet, preferably having elastic at the top.
